Former NHL players to speak at rally in support of NHLPA

Winnipeg — Former NHLers will speak at a rally for a union, including current players.
The Winnipeg Free Press reports a rally is planned Friday at the North East Community Centre for an event hosted by the Manitoba Players Association.
The union represents players in the National Hockey League, Major League Soccer and the NHLPA.
It is one of several unions that have signed on to organize players in Winnipeg.
The Free Press says the rally will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m..
It is scheduled to feature a news conference with players, as well as speeches by members of the Winnipeg chapter of the United Steelworkers.
The WFL has been active in organizing in the city since it was formed in 2009, and it is known for its hard-hitting political message.
The WSL has organized two rallies in recent years to support the WHL Players’ Union and the Canadian Hockey League.
