‘Theres no reason to fear’: Nurses to work with patients at hospital, say PHILIPPINES

PHILIPPE, Philippines—A new wave of nurses has been hired to help patients who require physiotherapy after President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law in Mindanao on Friday.

The Department of Health said in a statement that a total of 603 nurses, including 15 in the Philippines, were already working at PHN hospitals and outpatient clinics across Mindanaogu.

The new staff will be tasked with supporting patients in their rehabilitation and physical therapy in hospitals, outpatient clinics and hospitals, it added.

The health ministry said in its statement that the PHN health system is under severe stress due to the outbreak of the virus.

The government has declared a state of emergency in Mindan, Lanao del Sur and Samar.

The number of cases has reached 2,946, according to data from the Philippine National Health Authority.
