The NRL announced a new partnership with the International Rugby Board, which is set to kick off the 2019 season with the finals of the 2019 World Cup.
Under the agreement, the NRL will broadcast the first four rounds of the World Cup in 2019, including a series against England, France and South Africa.
The first round matches will be broadcast live in Australia.
It’s the first time in the NRL’s history that the game will broadcast in its home country.
The agreement also includes the ability to stream the games on the NRL app.
The World Cup kicks off on September 12th, with the NRL set to face Argentina at ANZ Stadium in Perth.
The 2019 NRL season is expected to be the biggest in the game’s history.NRL CEO Todd Greenberg said the new deal would ensure the NRL has a strong presence in Australia, adding that it was “an important step in the right direction for the game”.
“The international experience that the NRL provides to our players, our fans, our partners and the industry in Australia is an important part of the pathway to success for the next decade,” Greenberg said.
“We look forward to sharing more of that experience with our fans across the globe and with fans in Australia and around the world.”
